Welcome back, everyone!

I was quite pleased with your exam results — you put in a good effort and there is room for improvement. Since I love learning, I look quite favourably on activities that offer “areas of improvement”.

Here is what we are working on today:

STEP 1) Go over your Paper 1 Exam. I have included the correct answer to most errors. Discuss why your answer is incorrect with your peers–argue why you thought your answer was correct! Then listen to someone else answer why their answer was more correct. This is a very good learning opportunity (especially since you will be arguing in your second language! heheh!)

STEP 2) Go over your Paper 1 Practice Exam. Compare your results. Do the same fruitful arguing as in Step 1. Also, look at Text D. You will mark this yourself. For every detail from the text that you include, give yourself a tick mark. Show this to me by the end of the class and we will discuss your final mark together. REMEMBER: Section B of Paper 1 (Text D) is a READING COMPREHENSION activity–that means you must incorporate the reading’s details in order to demonstrate your knowledge. You are NOT supposed to make up details in Section B (Save that for Paper 2!)

STEP 3: Upload the following file: grammar-2-bismarck-tense-and-word-endings and complete it in Word. Note that there are 2 steps. You can check the answers to the first step by visiting the full article on Wikipedia — don’t cheat or you won’t learn anything! ;)

Good luck! Once you are finished–no homework EXCEPT fun homework–you must watch at least 1 movie (NOTE: Bridget Jones is on TV tonight!)
